The nice thing about where we live is that a fairly short drive will take us on great adventures! What better adventure than the beach!

Days of Summer: On the Riverfront

One of our favorite things to do in the summer is go down to the riverfront and eat at a restaurant overlooking the river. Sailboats glide by and seagulls swoop down as we walk along the path behind the restaurant after dinner. . . and then my camera's battery died--in case you were wondering how I practiced such restraint and took so few pictures!

(But honestly, I didn't--I borrowed my mother-in-laws camera and kept snapping away! I just didn't manage to download those pictures before she went home with her camera!)

And of course Signe must compete with the seagull calls with her whistle!

Days of Summer: A Gaggle of Girls

Little girls in the bright attire of summer speak volumes. . . literally. The little neighbor boy, who is not yet two, started saying, with awe and confusion in his voice: "The girls say 'AHH!'" (the ahh part in a high pitch girly squeal!) He would repeat this new found truth often. Girls and boys are different. . . even the babies can see this!

Days of Summer: Schools Out!

Since I have neglected this blog all summer and fall is fast approaching, I thought it would be fun to do a little recap for the next little while to show you where I've been and what I've seen.

It seems like just yesterday that school got out and I was telling the kids, "As soon as it hits 80 degrees you can get wet." There is something about early summer that translates into bright colors for me. Sun, water, giggling girls and early summer flowers. Ahhh, the possibilities. . .
